Introduction to Combed Cotton Materials

Combed cotton, also known as Oxford spinning. The traditional combed cotton fabric, named after the University of Oxford, originated in England and Oxford cloth began around 1900. Using finer combed high count yarns as double warp, interwoven with thicker weft yarns in a weft weight flat weave.

Combed cotton is also widely used in the manufacturing of socks. Compared with ordinary cotton, combed cotton fabric is dense, soft, and solid. So, in daily life, how should we distinguish between regular cotton and combed cotton? The simplest method is to distinguish between regular cotton and combed cotton by “watching” and “touching”. The former method involves placing a single layer of cotton fabric on the hand and shining it under light for perspective, while the combed cotton is very compact and cannot see the hand shadow after light transmission; On the contrary, ordinary cotton fabric, due to insufficient count, has a faintly visible outline of the hand. As for distinguishing by touch, it is to actually feel whether the texture of cotton fabric is soft, and the relatively soft one is ordinary cotton.
